A Great Tool for Authors

For those of you searching for a means to put your ideas out in the form of an ebook, I recommend you check out a great tool I found while writing “The Wolf’s Lair Conspiracy”.

I originally started writing using Microsoft Word but I also have a laptop running Ubuntu Linux which I wanted to use while traveling in the motorhome.  I was using Libre Office on the laptop which saved to a word doc format but was constantly adjusting to the idiosyncracies of the separate programs.  I also had separate files for research notes which I had to keep track of.  One day I stumbled upon an ad for “Jutoh” by Anthemion Software Ltd.  I clicked the link and found exactly the tool I was looking for.

Jutoh allows me to use exactly the same interface no matter what operating system I happen to be using and has loads of features, including being able to keep all research notes in a scrap file within the writing project.  The ebook conversion tools work flawlessly and does not convert anything kept within the scrap file.  I was able to do conversions to epub and mobi formats and save them to the cloud and then preview them using the free Kindle and Nook apps available on my Samsung Galaxy Tablet.

I was able to paste the progress I had made using Microsoft Word into the new program with ease and my writing productivity increased immediately.  The best part was the software only cost $39.00 and I could download a demo before purchasing the complete software.

The project file takes a bit of setup but it is well worth the effort.  Any questions I had concerning the software were promptly answered via email by Dr Julian Smart and the answers were always spot on.

By utilizing Dropbox, I can now write, research or prieview from anywhere at any time.

This is an unsolicited testimonial for a great piece of software.

A Rare Gem

As an author who likes to blend several genres together, I also am an avid reader of Classic Detective series such as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s “Adventures of Sherlock Holmes” and Classic Horror stories such as Bram Stoker’s “Dracula” I recently finished a novel suggested to me through Goodreads.com, “Sherlock Holmes vs Dracula” by Loren D. Estleman.  I was intrigued by the title and the thought of the arch detective vs one of the most evil characters ever imagined.  I must admit as a fan of the original Sherlock Holmes series, I was skeptical about how well the two genres could be blended and still remain true to the original characters, particularly John Watson’s journalistic style.

I was pleasantly surprised by how well the author pulled it off.  A jolly good read.

It was a blast to read. It was a blend of spy thrillers and horror and action and intrigue with a little noir thrown in. The author did a great job blending those genres together. It’s a good read…no romantic “twilight” werewolves. These things kill. Good fun!

I loved this book. I usually read books by Vince Flynn, John Grisham, etc. I found this book held my attention better than the last couple of Vince Flynn books!  I am not a huge fan of werewolves…but this book is so much more than werewolves! It is a great thriller and I am eagerly awaiting book 2!

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect when I started reading this book but I have to say it grabbed me right from the beginning. There were some parts of it that were totally predictable however there were also twists that I didn’t expect. It was a totally enjoyable read and I would recommend it to everyone. I can’t wait for the next book!

This book was such a great read, I couldn’t put it down. Though this type of literature is not what I typically read, I finished it in less than 24 hours because I literally could not stop turning the page. I’m genuinely looking forward to the next book in the series. Well done, Mr. William Inman!

A Word from the Author

Road trip 2009 8 017

            I hope you enjoy this, the first part of “The Wolf’s Lair Conspiracy”.  If you purchased the book and would like to see more of this series, I invite you to become part of the process. Review the book. Encourage the author. We live in exciting times where literature is not constrained by the brick and mortar world of conventional publishing and you can now buy great books for little more than the price of a cup of coffee. I know that we live in a busy society and writing a book review takes time and effort, but it is the best way to help a new author get started. If you do decide to review the book, email me a copy at;

 wolfslairconspiracy@gmail.com

 I would like to gift the first 25 reviewers, an epub of “The Wolf’s Lair Conspiracy Book Two”, when it is completed. If you chose not to review it, please accept my thanks for the purchase and keep on reading.

Book Two – In Progress

I am almost through with the research for “Book Two” in “The Wolf’s Lair Conspiracy” series.  I find it much easier to write when most of the research is done in advance.  In this book, David Cortez and characters from Book One will have to deal with the deteriorating  situations in Europe while facing an adversary more evil and powerful than they could ever have imagined.  We will find out more about the “shadowy cloaked figure” who appeared late in Book One and David will learn more about the extraordinary powers of the “Blood Ring”.

Possible new locales for “Book Two” include the “The Whitechapel District of London“, “Stonehenge“, “Paris and the rural French countryside”, “Munich and Eastern Europe“, and “Cairo and the Valley of the Kings in Egypt“.

For those of you who have finished “The Wolf’s Lair Conspiracy” Book One, I would appreciate your comments here on the Blog or better yet, leave a review on the site from which you purchased the book.

Keep on Reading!

The following are excerpts from Wikipedia regarding Hitler’s Super Secret, World War II Fortress in Eastern Poland;

Wolf’s Lair is the standard English name for Wolfsschanze, Adolf Hitler’s first World War II Eastern Front military headquarters, one of several Führerhauptquartiere (Führer Headquarters) or FHQs located in various parts of Europe. The complex, which was built for Operation Barbarossa, the 1941 German invasion of the Soviet Union, was located in the Masurian woods, about 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) from the small East Prussian town of Rastenburg, now Kętrzyn in Poland.

The original bunker system was constructed by Organisation Todt, but the later planned enlargement was never finished; the expansion work was stopped only a few days before the Soviet advance to Angerburg (now Węgorzewo), only 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) away.

Hitler first arrived at the Wolf’s Lair late on the night of 23 June 1941, and departed for the last time on 20 November 1944. Overall, he spent over 800 days there during that 3½-year period.

The complex was blown up and abandoned on 25 January 1945, but many of the bunkers were so thick that their damaged walls and ceilings remain. The remains are located in Poland at the hamlet of Gierłoż (German: Forst Görlitz) near Kętrzyn.

The Red Army reached the nearby border of East Prussia in October 1944. Hitler departed on 20 November and two days later the order was given to destroy the complex. The actual demolition did not take place until the night of 24–25 January 1945. Many tons of explosives were required to do the job; one bunker required an estimated 8 tons of TNT. The Red Army took the site without a shot two days later, on 27 January, the same day Auschwitz was liberated further south. It took until 1955 to clear over 54,000 landmines which surrounded the installation.

What the Red Army did not find is the subject of this novel!

The first book in the series uncovers a monstrous plot to return Hitler’s Third Reich to power sixty years after its defeat in WW II.  The author combines historical fact with ancient legends and the wonders of modern technology to paint an unsettling portrait of a world gone mad.
